Chris Craig

Dr. Christopher Craig began working with APHIS Veterinary Services in June 2003. He worked as a field Veterinary Medical Officer in Kentucky for 19 years. During this time, he accepted numerous leadership assignments in import and export events such as World Equestrian Games in 2010 and 2018. In addition, he has served in disease response efforts all over the US as well as serving the Kentucky State and Federal team in operational leadership and incident command. In 2022, Dr. Craig was selected to serve as Emergency Coordinator for VS Kentucky, as well as joining the Gold Incident Management Team as Operations Section Chief. In 2024, he became the Area Veterinarian-in-Charge for Kentucky, and since February of 2025, he has been leading both the Kentucky and Tennessee Veterinary Service teams in this role.
Dr. Craig was raised on a farm in Southeastern Kentucky with horses and cattle. After obtaining his B.S. in Agriculture at Eastern Kentucky University, he attended Auburn University, where he obtained a DVM degree. Returning to the Commonwealth in 1996, he began working in mixed practice but quickly transitioned to all food animal practice until he left private practice in 2003. He is now living back on the family farm in Southeastern Kentucky with his wife, Mary Lee, son Keaton, daughter Molly, and son-in-law Jonah. Dr. Craig enjoys all things outdoors, and has a deep passion for supporting farmers, the veterinary profession, and sustaining America’s role in domestic and international food security.
