Jennifer Quammen
DVM, AVMA President
Power of Ten Capstone
Dr. Jen Quammen has built her career around a simple belief: veterinary medicine is strongest when we stay curious, invest in one another, and never lose sight of why we chose this profession.
Today, Jen serves as President of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) while continuing to practice as a relief veterinarian. She believes every relief shift teaches her something new about the profession she loves and helps her stay connected to the everyday realities-and extraordinary moments—of veterinary medicine.
Before becoming a veterinarian, Jen worked as a licensed veterinary technician, an experience that continues to shape her collaborative leadership style and deep appreciation for every member of the veterinary team. Today she also serves as Chief Veterinary Officer at Otto, where she works at the intersection of clinical practice, leadership, and technology. She is also the co-founder of Veterinarian Coaching, supporting veterinary professionals in building sustainable careers and intentional leadership practices.
A proud Kentuckian, Jen is a Past President of the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association and has served the profession through numerous local, state, and national leadership roles.
Whether she's speaking with colleagues, students, policymakers, or pet owners, she enjoys translating complex topics into practical conversations that help people see what's possible.
When she's not in a clinic or on a stage, you'll likely find Jen discovering a local coffee shop or wandering through the town she's visiting, learning its history and getting a feel for the local community.
