Dr. Way received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 from Auburn University College of Medicine. After graduation, she entered private practice where she owned a predominately companion animal practice in her home town for twelve years. In May of 2020 she started pursuing her Master’s in Public Health from the University of Iowa which piqued her interest in regulatory veterinary medicine. Dr. Way sold her veterinary practice and worked as an Export Veterinary Medical Officer with VS-KY for sixteen months before returning to part-time private practice. She had to go back to practice once more to ensure that she was ready to transition back to regulatory medicine for good! Dr. Way was excited to rejoin VS-KY in May 2024 as the VMO Emergency Coordinator. Just this July she received her MPH from University of Iowa and obtained diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. She lives on a farm in Shelbyville with her husband and three children where she enjoys camping, gardening, canning and watching the kids exhibit their 4H livestock projects!
