Rafaela
De Negri

Regulatory & One Health
Dr. Rafaela De Negri, DVM, MSc, is a Veterinary Pathologist and Assistant Professor at Murray State University’s Breathitt Veterinary Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. In this role, she provides diagnostic services for regional veterinarians and teaches veterinary laboratory sciences and immunology for pre-vets.
She earned her DVM from the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia in Brazil, completed a residency in anatomic pathology at the University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, and obtained her MSc from the Gluck Equine Research Center. She later advanced her research career in translational neuroscience at Florida Atlantic University and the University of Miami, where she investigated neuroprotection, neuroplasticity, and therapies for spinal cord injury before returning to animal diagnostics.
Dr. De Negri is actively involved in professional service. She currently serves as Vice-President of Organizational Operations for the Davis-Thompson Foundation, Social Media Editor for the Elsevier Journal of the Anaerobe Society of the Americas and the Japanese Association for Anaerobic Infection Research; she is also a committee member and advisor to the Professional Enrichment Committees of the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians and the AVMA.
